About Me

I wanted to be a photographer for as long as I can remember. Growing up in South Africa where I had the benefits of both rural and urban life I spent a great deal of time with a photographer who had an immense influence on my life. Inspiring me from and early age to take an interest in photography, however it wasn’t till I was 17 that I could afford to buy my first SLR. In a single parent family items such as cameras were a luxury we couldn’t afford and it took most of my teen-age years to save up enough money. I started out developing my photography as a hobby. With the digital era inevitably approaching I went on to study graphic design while I worked as a nanny to fund my schooling.

I moved to London 11 years ago to pursue a career in graphic design, however fate had a different plan for me. After being made redundant I went back to working in child care. As the demand for my photography grew as vigorously as my zeal for it did so 5 years ago I eventually took the giant step of combining my passion for interacting with children with my love and desire for photography. And so ….

Pippa Thompson Photography was born. It has been a challenging but highly rewarding experience over the years and I hope my love and passion for it continues and shows through the many photographs I will come to take.
